INEVITABLE.

We forget, so here’s a gentle reminder.

Change is a normal, expected, and essential part of life.

We assume that change means loss, and instinctively resist the notion of losing the things we like, love, and are comforted by. That’s understandable, but not entirely accurate.

Our instinctive response comes from a place of preservation, and protection.

But change is almost always positive because we are such an adaptive species. When we change, we cut back some of the things we know. But we must not grieve their loss because from the place where we cut back, new opportunities develop. Much like how rose bushes are cut back at the end of the year: long shoots and branches cut away, from which grow stronger and more plentiful blooms.

To change is to grow. To change is to adapt. To change is to evolve. Like everything in life, it’s just a case of how we look at it.
